Holy Week at First Baptist Church

Holy Week is a time of solemn remembrance and great rejoicing, for it doth encompass the pinnacle of the Christian faith. In the days of old, as it is written, our Lord Jesus Christ did humble Himself, taking upon Him the form of a servant, and in the fullness of time, He entered into Jerusalem, knowing that His hour was come. On this week, we behold the passion of our Savior—His suffering, His death, and His glorious resurrection.
On the first day, known as Palm Sunday, the people did cry out, "Hosanna to the Son of David!" and He rode upon a donkey, fulfilling the prophecy of the prophet Zechariah. But lo, the week that followed would bring great trial, for on the night of the Last Supper, He took bread and wine, saying, "This is my body, which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me." And He went to the Garden of Gethsemane, where He prayed, and was betrayed by Judas with a kiss.
On Good Friday, the Lamb of God did suffer and die upon the cross, bearing the weight of the world’s sin. He was crucified, dead, and buried, so that all might be reconciled unto God through His sacrifice. And yet, in the fullness of three days, death could not hold Him, for He arose from the dead, triumphant over sin and the grave, that we might have eternal life.
Therefore, let us keep this week with reverence and awe, for it is a time to reflect upon the love and sacrifice of Christ. Let us remember His pain, His love, and His victory, and in so doing, draw nearer unto Him, that we might walk in His ways and be made partakers of His resurrection. Amen.
